It's hard to believe the pups are already a week old. They are all growing well. Ditto is a great mom! For the first several nights, I slept down with them, because with such a large litter, sometimes a pup would get too far from mom and I could help her corral them for feedings. After about 4 nights though, they were a little better at heading for mom on their own. They are still blind and deaf and will be for a couple more weeks, but they can sense when mom is nearby. Their eyes will probably open in about a week, but they still won't see well. They can't walk yet, but I am already seeing a couple of them push up on their back legs a bit. They look a bit like seals as they drag themselves across the floor. Their time is spent mostly just sleeping and eating as they grow and develop.
One, the green pup, is already vocal, but she settles down as soon as I pick it up and cuddle her. She is going to be a snuggler.
We are already handling the pups regularly, so they will be well socialized. (With 4 kids in the house, there will be no shortage of pup handlers!)
