Has it really been 3 weeks already?

This has been an incredible week of changes for the pups. They are growing so fast. Poor Ditto has is kept busy day and night keeping up with their appetites. I had been worried that with 10 pups, I’d have to help with supplemental feedings, but Ditto has been doing wonderfully. It won’t be long until they are ready for solid food.

The pups have teeth, which makes nursing more difficult for mom.

She doesn’t usually sleep while feeding like she used to. When they bite too much, she gets up and walks around for a bit before settling back down. A few of the pups have figured out that they can feed while standing if they are quick. They also have sharp nails, so hopefully this weekend we will be doing our first manicures.

They are steadier on their feet, though they still often fall over when playing. They can sit now, as well.

And are noticing much more than they used to. They still spend most of their time sleeping (or eating).

Several have discovered the gate, and it won’t be long until a few of them figure out how to escape and we’ll have to block it.

The pups are beginning to play, which is so much fun. Today, while the other pups were nursing, Yellow pup (Pichu) went from pup to pup, biting on their tails. They love to teethe on each other. I’ll be adding toys to their pen soon, but for now, they are happy chewing on each other.

They bark and howl and otherwise make a lot more noise than they used to. I can tell when they are awake from all the way across the house. Ten pups can make a lot of noise.

The pups are old enough to go to the bathroom on their own, which makes it a bit messier, but a few of the pups are beginning to get the idea of the puppy pads, though today Light Green (Treeko) decided to play with it and roll up in it instead.

Ditto is still pretty protective of the pups with the other dogs, so our two males have stayed away from the pen, but our cat, Gypsy, snuck down for a look earlier this week. Even though all the pups were sleeping, she did not approve.

The kids, though, love the chance to pet the pups. With the pen being in our tv room, there are plenty of chances for interaction.

As you can see, we're really enjoying the pups. I hope you are enjoying following this journey with us. If you want to see more photos and videos of the pups, please come to our Facebook group. (see the link below.)

FYI, there are still pups available for sale.
