The pups are 7 weeks old already! Only one more week until they are ready to go to their new homes. All but one, Red, have been sold and will be heading to their new homes next weekend or early next week. We will miss them. They have brought a lot of laughs and snuggles to our home.
With them getting older, I've been able to let my kids go down without me constantly supervising. This has brought joy to both the pups and the kids. The kids think that "socializing" the pups is much more important than schoolwork! They've been trying to figure out what lessons they can add to their homeschool portfolios that involve playing with puppies.
Mom (Ditto) is still very involved with the pups. She nurses them several times a day, only for a minute or so, Often the purpose is more to check on the pups than it is to provide nutrition. She's very gentle with the pups, but she is teaching them that they need to be careful with those sharp teeth.
She doesn't like it when I take them upstairs for baths, which has become more often as they get dirtier rolling around the pen.
One reason for all the extra baths is that several of the pups think that the piddle pads are a great place to sleep.
So far, only one of the pups, Black, has his ears up consistently. He is easy to pick out from the other pups. Every once in awhile another will put their ears partway up for a bit, but they don't stay up like his do.
With Thanksgiving this last Thursday, we had the pups as one of the things we are very thankful for. They are a lot of mess and a lot of work, but we wouldn't change things. We are making so many wonderful memories and are sure they are going to make their new families very happy.
You are so fortunate to get this time with the puppies. They are so cute at this time of their life!!!❤️
